THE FUTURE OF EXTERNAL MASONRY WALL BUILDING SYSTEMS FROM JUWO-SMARTWALL

Masonry wall methods of building haven’t changed in decades but are expected to fit into the new Future Building requirements of providing insulation as well as being able to resist rain penetration. Modern ways of building an external wall by using Monolithic Construction Methods not only provide the required insulation standards but don’t require cavities, additional insulation and are easier to build.

BUILDING ENERGY EFFICIENT HOMES WITH AIRTIGHT CONSTRUCTION

Optimal airtightness is a key factor when creating energy efficient homes. DuPont Tyvek and AirGuard building envelope membranes and accessories provide a holistic solution to help achieve optimal airtightness, and hence optimal energy efficiency. Nick Williams will present on the subject of Building Airtightness and how DuPont Tyvek promotes this important aspect of construction design. The talk will report on the UK’s role in reducing carbon emissions as well as energy efficiency trends, the benefits of airtightness, the support DuPont offer and the products they recommend.

FIRE STOPS FOR CURTAIN WALL FACADES

This CPD looks at some of the key and unique functions of a curtain wall façade, and differentiates from other facade types. Examining the changing UK regulatory requirements for fire protection within with curtain walls and supplementary guidance available, it also looks at applicable terminology & definitions which are crucial to understanding the functional requirements the different types of fire barriers. The CPD looks at the performance requirements of fire stops?: which ones are suitable for this specific application and what important principles they must incorporate, takes a closer look at the testing and certification of curtain wall fire stops as well as an outline of routes to prove compliance when installing the firestops into the façade system. The CPD also puts forward some typical problematic areas and design details significant to a successful design and an overview of critical installation guidance for the systems.

PROTEKTOR NON COMBUSTIBLE CAVITY TRAY SOLUTION FOR PART B FIRE REQUIREMENTS FOR NON MASONRY STRUCTURES

This CPD will look at the requirements for non combustible products with cavities over 18m. We will also touch on the definition of through wall and the forthcoming changes in regulations.

NATURAL SLATE RAINSCREEN CLADDING SYSTEMS

This CPD offers an overview of Natural Slate Rainscreen Cladding Systems from technical and practical viewpoints. It also explains the manufacturing process of natural slate and the importance of traceability and standards.
